First Operational, Secured and Trusted galilEo Receiver for ITS applications (FOSTER-ITS)

FOSTER-ITS is a three years and a half project, started in 2015, that has received funding from the European GNSS Agency under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 641492.

FOSTER ITS project aims to develop a new generation of GNSS receiver for ITS applications. The FOSTER ITS receiver is designed to increase trustworthiness by delivering to the user a level of confidence in the position, time and velocity computed from all GNSS.

Achievements

Spring 2018

Secure GNSS prototype module integration into a geo-location OBU led by Novacom Services and installation in heavy trucks and light vehicles for in field pilots.
Pilot 1: Critical dangerous goods transport in France.
Pilot 2: Humanitarian missions in Afghanistan in the frame of the operations of humanitarian organizations in Kabul.

December 2017

Radiofrequency Equipment Directive (RED) and UNECE Advanced Emergency Call System (AECS) type-approval pre-testing successfully passed. Tests execution led by NavCert.

February 2017

From February 6th to 10th 2017 the FOSTER technology was thoroughly tested in the GNSS laboratory of the European Commission Joint Research Centre (Ispra, Italy).
FDC is proud that FOSTER successfully detected all the GNSS attacks launched on the module. This independent assessment by JRC is a key achievement in the FOSTER development.

October 2016

Created, designed and developed by FDC in collaboration with STMicroelectronics, the internal testing phase of the module has been successfully completed.

ION GNSS is the world's largest technical meeting and showcase of GNSS technology, products and services. Mr Allien, FDC CTO, participated to the congress technical session "GNSS+ Augmentations for High Performance and Safety Critical Applications" with a paper "FOSTER a GNSS receiver designed to improve Resilience and Trust in navigation: concept, results and performances". CAR-ELE 2017

CAR-ELE 2017 gathered from 17th to 19th January 2017 in Tokyo, Japan, more than 34 000 automotive industry professionals, in particular automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers looking for the latest products. The show offered therefore a wonderful opportunity to introduce the FOSTER-ITS prototype module, a solution securing vehicle GNSS information for ITS applications.

CES 2017

CES is the biggest fair of high-tech. It gathered from 5th to 8th January 2017 in Las Vegas, the USA, more than 3500 exhibitors. The show offered therefore a wonderful opportunity to introduce the FOSTER-ITS prototype module, a solution securing vehicle GNSS information for ITS applications.

8th Automotive World 2016

This event was Asia’s largest exhibition for automotive technologies and was themed around 5 specialized areas – Automotive Electronics, EV/HEV/FCV Technology, Lightweight Technology, Components Processing Technology and Technology for Connected Cars. The show offered therefore a wonderful opportunity for the promotion of FOSTER-ITS project on STMicroelectronics Automotive booth.

 

ITS World Congress 2015

FDC showcased its latest development: FOSTER ITS, a trusted & resilient GNSS module for secure ITS applications. Our brand-new technology was presented at the Congress during the TS38 session: "GNSS in constrained environments".
